A spot of tea

My MIL called MFH and told him she has tickets to a "tea" on Saturday afternoon. She wants me to go with her.

It's at an old, restored mansion in town. She says it's very fancy.

What would one wear to such an event?

Any ideas would be welcome.

A hat and white gloves? Can you wear white gloves before memorial day or is that tacky?

Honestly, anything that makes you look like a kindergarten teacher is probably appropriate. Tea always sounds so demur.

Just wear something akin to church clothes or something you'd wear to a wedding.

    Have a great time.

I've actually been to tea and wore a business suit. I was out of place. Everyone else was wearing cute flowery type dresses.

    Call if in doubt.

Otherwise, with it being Montana I would hope that the church ladies haven't broke out their sofa-print dresses yet.

I would wear my nicest trousers with heels, a top with either bling or was printed, and a very nicely cut jacket. And for you specifically, I would braid my hair into one long lose braid or up in a lose bun.

Down south, a tea = skirt/dress. I'd go with something along those lines to play it safe! I've been to my fair share of such events, and I usually wear a to the knee dress...along the same lines of what one would wear to an afternoon wedding.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

I was thinking flowery, cute dress. However, I live in sunny San Diego where I could wear spaghetti straps right now and be okay. Skirt and blazer. That's what I'd go with. Maybe some fishnets! :-)

hmmmm, I'd say the cold probably makes it a bit harder to dress for something like this right now. but, yeah, anything you'd wear to an afternoon wedding
